Thursday, January 23, 2020

SAMEDIA is proud to announce its participation in SEAM, the new FEPA program dedicated to sustainability.

On February 21, 2020, FEPA, the Federation of European Abrasive Producers, representing over 80% of European producers of abrasive products, announced the launch of its new program: SEAM - Sustainable European Abrasive Manufacturers. SEAM involves the largest manufacturers of European abrasives, including SAMEDIA.

This strategic partnership is a pledge of strong recognition for our company, which has been working for years to improve its sustainable and responsible growth. The promise "SAFER" of our motto commits us to it and our production teams as well as our sales force do their utmost on a daily basis to offer eco-responsible solutions.

At SAMEDIA, we do not manufacture any poor quality products, any how and at any price!

SEAM's goal: to support and assist the manufacturers of abrasives in their sustainable growth, both in their production and distribution processes.

SEAM guarantees that its members, all from the abrasives supply chain, manufacture, process, supply and distribute abrasives according to the sustainability standards recognized in Europe with regard to environmental efficiency (waste, energy , resources), the quality of health and safety and innovative production.

The factories of SEAM members enrolled in the program must meet a series of requirements organized according to the three fundamental pillars of sustainability: the environment, work and the economy. Each company must adopt several evolving objectives (eg energy management, employee security, and business continuity). Each SEAM member must then report on their annual progress.

SEAM action

Alongside its partners and with the help of SEAM, SAMEDIA is committed to continuously improving its environmental, work and production processes.

“Sustainability is not just a trend. It is bigger than that. Today it is a call for action to companies to act socially responsible. And SEAM is the answer to this call. It demonstrates the willingness of the European abrasive producers to work on making their production more sustainable, more efficient, and take a stronger look at the people who work for them and the community they belong to.” stated Jan Cord Becker, CEO of Hermes Abrasives and President of FEPA.

The SEAM integrates manufacturers, suppliers and distributors of abrasives which can be SMEs or large groups. All have joined the SEAM program to establish together a European sustainability standard that pulls the industry up where it can find the right balance between environmental efficiency, production performance and work safety. These are not disparate pieces of a puzzle but rather pieces of a chessboard, strategic values which give a strong position to European companies in the world.
